Queer Book Club

For our sixth session we will read…

For the last session of this year, we will read the controversial and shocking novel Leash by Jane Delynn. In this novel we follow Chris, a woman living in New York whose partner is away for the summer. Tired of the material wealth by which she is surrounded in her New York apartment, Chris starts looking for sexual relations with other women to pass the time. After a personal ad in a local gay paper, she connects with a dominatrix who promises to introduce her to new forms of sexual pleasure. The two engage in an exploration of BDSM and role playing that allow Chris to forget about her material needs and the chores and obligations of everyday life. However, the BDSM and role playing quickly increase in intensity, until there no longer seems to be a way back for Chris anymore…

Content note: this novel contains graphic descriptions of BDSM and other extreme sex acts.
